When a Drought Makes it Prettier

Waterfalls inherently need water, right? Well, maybe not.

Turns out seeing the barren gorge is quite…gorgeous. It’s an intimate glimpse of water’s power at carving a route; smoothing rock; moving tons of weight.

I truly think this visit to Watkins Glen State Park in Upstate NY was more magnificent because of the drought. It was a behind-the-scenes look at nature. We got to see the wizard behind the curtain. And it’s a direct appreciation for the immediacy and longevity of water.
