We All Scream for Ice Cream

At Miss Mary’s Ice Cream Crankin’ festival in Roswell, Georgia they count on the fact that few can resist ice cream. And all ages came out to taste the community’s finest (and some of their worst…sorry).

Organizations and political candidates made flavors available for tasting and prizes. Funds raised from the entrance fee went to the Drake House, a 90-day emergency housing program for homeless mothers.

Friends Sandi, Lauren, and I, with a toddler in tow (who only eats chocolate ice cream), took on the heat and the masses in order to eat homemade ice cream from a tiny spoon. Wouldn’t you? And there really is Christmas in August: someone made peppermint ice cream–my absolute favorite. Happy Paula!

What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Lactose intolerant? What do you do instead?
Not a sweets person? No worries, surely you love something!
Great – are all demographics covered?

My vice: Peanut butter anything

Good rule of thumb so I was willing to try peanut ice cream. which was vile. boiled peanuts, frozen, and put into ice cream. blech.

Mint chocolate chip YUMMMMM. Sometimes I pour a little milk over it and mix for a “milkshake.”

My favorite used to be Ben and Jerry’s Swirled chocolate with raspberries and white chocolates and other gooey goodness, but I ate it daily and needed something new.

When in August is this Festival? Have you been to other ice cream festivals in GA or elsewhere that you would recommend

it was yesterday! I haven’t been to any other ice cream festivals, but check out the bloggroll for festivals around Ga and the country and see what you can find!
